Initial Language Teacher Education: Components Identified in Research

Research Background: Initial Language Teacher Education (ILTE) has moved conceptually from technical-oriented visions to socio-cultural perspectives that integrate cultural, historical and institutional settings where teachers shape their professional identities. However, relevant discussion in the field indicates ILTE configurations are grounded on conceptual frameworks fail represent complex nature of teacher preparation.Gap knowledge Purpose study: In this systematic review we explore whether recent understandings acknowledged current research as information is for stakeholders education.Method: For reason, aims at analysing what education components addressed such nationally ranked academic journals 2014 2019 how those were researched.Findings value added: Findings indicate areas related student teachers’ learning still forefront ILTE. Additionally, area inquired a disjoint discreet perspective. Results also show growing about person contextual elements more holistic interconnected perspective acknowledging integrative affecting pre-service language education.
